In what can only be described as an absolute thrashing, South Africa in the first ODI against Sri Lanka in Paarl last night dismantled their batting line-up for a poultry 43 runs. After winning the toss – which was a good one to win to be honest, SA elected to bat and set up a massive 301 for the visitors to chase – Hashim Amla with another brilliant 114, Jaques Kallis adding 72 and AB De Villiers with a quick-fire 52 off just 40 deliveries.

By the time Dale Steyn got the ball in hand, Sri Lanka were already six wickets down and sinking faster than the titanic. Over-all, a thrilling encounter and an absolutely fantastic result for the South African one day squad and a great start to the series.

The 2nd ODI is at Buffalo Park in East London on Saturday the 14th, starting at 10:00 am – Don’t miss it.
