After winning the toss, South Africa put the Sri Lankan’s in to bat hoping to capitalise on the overcast conditions. On what seemed to be a flat track a modest target of 237 was set for the South African batsmen to chase. Yet again a great bowling effort by the ever-improving South African bowlers.

Another half century from Hashim Amla, a well-deserved unbeaten 66 from the returning JP Duminy and some smaller but useful partnerships ensured that South Africa got home without too many problems. Another impressive over-all performance from a team that is looking better and better. We are looking forward to the next ODI in Bloemfontein on Tuesday the 17th.

Jaques Kallis has been rested and Hashim Amla given leave to be with his as they are expecting the birth of their first child. This has given Alviro Petersen, Colin Ingram and Vernon Philander the opportunity as they have been named as the replacements in the oneday squad.
